“If you don’t know where you’re going, any road’ll take you there.”
- George Harrison

Income, Investments, Tax, Insurance, Estate

Through Verbatim, I provide full-service comprehensive financial planning and investment management. I serve clients nationwide, and my services include, but are in no way limited to, those listed below.

I encourage you to choose the service that fits where you are in your life, not what your friends, family, or social media influencers think you need. I am biased in that I believe most people can benefit from my help, but financial advice is far from one size fits all.

I also bring a lot to the table as an advisor, if I don't say so myself. Statistically, it's just a fact that very few financial advisors have the type of background that I do and experience that I can bring to bear in helping my clients. Let's just say that it's not a normal thing to find someone like me working with, "normal," people. That being said, there are things I'm not an expert on, and if these are your main goals, perhaps I may not be the right advisor for you.

Why you might not want to work with me, subject specific:

  • Although I completed H&R Block's Income Tax Course before launching my RIA & keep abreast of tax policy because it's an integral part of fiancial planning, I do not prepare client tax returns. I believe my expertise is better applied elsewhere.
  • I am not an expert in rental real estate or the tax issues surrounding that. While I advise clients from time to time on small holdings, if it's a major part of your personal plan, I may not be the right advisor for you.
  • I help clients with children plan how to save for education, but I am not an expert on FAFSA or loan forgiveness plans.
  • I do not have expertise on cross border issues such as taxation or other dual-citizen topics.
  • I keep abreast of crypto, stablecoins, etc., but it is not an area of focus for me.

Why you might not want to work with me, "other:"

  • While I always respond to clients on a timely basis on emergent or time sensitive issues, at other times my responses may be slower due to the fact that I am a sole practitioner who has primary childcare responsibilities for our 7th grader and try to shoulder a fair burden of household work, given my wife's demanding work schedule. I have partnered with XYPN Sapphire to handle much of the firm's back office work so I can concentrate on client work, but if you email me with a question, it is often going to be the case that I cannot drop everything in order to reply immediately (especially given that many typical questions require me to review the details of your finances, potentially do other research, etc.). If super speedy replies are very important to you, a larger firm may be a better fit.
  • I can not always answer unscheduled phone calls. Again, if you’re looking for somebody who can always provide extremely quick answers, a larger firm (with employees whose full-time job is to answer the phones) may be a better fit for you than a sole practitioner.
  • I do not recommend asset allocation or investment options to try to outperform the market. If you are looking to squeeze every possible basis point of return from your portfolios, I won't be the advisor for you. I value client peace of mind over maximized returns.
  • On a personal basis, I tend to get along with everyone, but I am also open with my beliefs online, political & otherwise. If you are worried that one day you may see something I post that you don't agree with and that might make you uncomfortable, I may not be the advisor for you. Just know that your beliefs won't make me uncomfortable & I work just as hard for every one of my clients, not just the ones who are just like me.

Unbiased Portfolio Review - $895

First-time clients may engage me to perform an Unbiased Portfolio Review. Clients who choose this option include, “do-it-yourself,” investors, as well as people who already work with a financial advisor, but want an unbiased second set of eyes on their investments and overall financial picture.

For a one-time fee of $895, the Unbiased Portfolio Review includes three hours of consultation services. Should a client engage me for ongoing financial planning and/or investment management services, the $895 fee for the portfolio review will be deducted from their initial quarterly advisory fees.

Current Financial Plan - typically $3,000

Many of us find true financial planning to be overwhelming. For example, we know we have to save for the future, we know we should be investing, we know we should have insurance, an estate plan, etc. But that’s when the questions really start.

  • When does that future we’re saving for really begin?
  • What does purposeful & long term investing really look like?
  • How can I tell what insurance I need vs insurance I’m being sold my a salesperson?
  • Do I need a will or a trust or something else?
  • How do taxes fit into all of this?

All of these questions & more can be addressed by creating a financial plan. For a one-time fee, typically $3,000, I work with folks to not only create a personalized financial plan, but also a model that they can access after the conclusion of our engagement. Not only do we build your financial model together, I also teach you how to use RightCapital to update your model as your life changes. Should a client engage me for ongoing financial planning and/or investment management services during a twelve month period after completing a plan, the financial planning fee will be deducted from their initial quarterly advisory fees.

Done right, the financial planning process is neither quick nor easy.

Plans for ongoing clients are living documents which change with life events. As our relationship deepens, my clients discover that planning is not just choosing the right investments. Planning is preparing for the future.

I do not deliver a plan in the form of a twenty four page paperweight. Like any good relationship, the financial planning relationship takes time to grow. Though ever changing, the plan gives my clients a much better idea of not only where they want to go, but which road will take them there.
