Financial Planning

If you type, “what is good financial planning,” into Google, or read the copy on countless financial advisor websites, you’ll find descriptions that sound a lot like this:

“Good financial planning helps you achieve your financial goals. It can guide you towards a better understanding of your financial situation and help you make smarter money decisions by considering your current and future needs.”

Maybe they won’t even sound that good. Those are some nice words, and it’s true, that is what financial planning should do for you. What it should not do is act as an excuse for an advisor to charge you a percentage of your investment portfolio every year, which is why I don’t.

What is financial planning?

Financial planning helps you determine where you are today & to create a roadmap to where you want to be. The process allows you to plan and manage your finances to meet both your short and long-term goals. Financial planning isn't only important for individuals. It also helps businesses manage their time, money, investments, taxes, education expenses, retirement funds, and more.

Financial planning can be complicated, but the point of doing it is to enable simplicity. I work with you to create a situation where what once appeared too stressful to even begin working on actually relieves stress and allows you to focus on what’s important to you in your life.

Who can benefit from financial planning?

Individuals who are just starting out, as well as those in transitional periods in their lives, can benefit from financial planning. While those with a stable income or substantial savings may find it easy to answer questions about preparing for the future, many have difficulty knowing what to do with an unexpected windfall or an unusual expense. For these individuals, financial planners can offer guidance about what to do with unexpected money or how to handle an emergency expense. In addition, many folks with what might be considered, “plenty of money,” need help to gain the confidence to live their lives on their own terms. No matter what your personal financial situation is, I want your plan to help improve your life on a daily basis, not just at some point in the distant future.

Why is financial planning important?

People often think that financial planning is a luxury they can't afford, but it can be a necessity to make sure you have enough money to live comfortably and take control of your future.

Financial planning can help you:

  • feel more confident about achieving your financial goals.

  • build a prudent investment portfolio.

  • create a better financial understanding to improve control over your financial lifestyle.

  • provide security for yourself and your family.
